Me, You & Squirrels

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: ” 2 Timothy 4:7 Squirrels. Cute Furry. Gray. Nimble. I decided to purchase more bird feeders this spring. (Bird watching during a pandemic is one thing which wasn’t prohibited.) I enjoy sitting in my glider, on the front porch, watching my feathered friends feed. Except, the squirrels like birdseed too! I would fill up the feeders first thing in the morning and by the evening the feeders were bare. I know birds cannot possibly consume that much seed and when I’d open my front door, I’d see bird feeders twisting violently - the undeniable proof of guilty, scampering squirrels. No matter what I tried, nothing seemed to prevent the furry thieves from stealing the bird seed. So, I bought a squirrel feeder. Can you guess what happened? If you said they left the bird feeders alone...you’d be incorrect. They ate all their food and then robbed the bird feeders too. I have no idea where they

Grief Waves & Treasures

It’s been a minute since I’ve posted. Sometimes life gets busy, sometimes life gets a little bit like a beach. That’s been my headliner for the last week. Father’s Day rolled around quietly. T hose “special” days now come to us especially wrapped in bittersweetness. I love my Heavenly Father beyond words, my earthly father dearly, I’m thankful for the wonderful father of my children and I’m thankful that my boys are good dads too. I’m also thankful for my spiritual father, my Pastor. I have much to be thankful for, and I am. I am blessed and I know it! However, after tragedy strikes home and takes away an adult (or any) child, those special days have a sort of hollowness to them. There’s one less call than there should be, one less body to hug - and there’s a little guy going thru the day without a Daddy here to celebrate. Yeah, I know he still has a father and that God fills in the gaps. That’s a platitude that, although it may be true, doesn’t exactly make it all be
